Financial Services Technology Consortium names Daniel Schutzer executive director

The Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) today announced that Daniel Schutzer has been appointed Executive Director effective February 27, 2006. Mr. Schutzer has been involved with FSTC since its inception in 1991.

He has served on a number of committees and project teams and is a current member of the FSTC Board of Directors. In addition, he has been engaged in other industry activities such as Chairman of the ISO Subcommittee 2, Fellow and Advisory Board New York Academy of Sciences, BITS Advisory Group, IFX Board Member, OFX Banking Co-Chairman, and ANSI X9.

"Dan has the knowledge and leadership skills to guide our organization as we continue to tackle some of the industry's most pressing issues," said Don Parker, FSTC Board Chair. "Having served FSTC in various capacities over the last fifteen years gives Dan a unique perspective on where we should be going as an organization, and more importantly, how to get there. We enthusiastically welcome Dan to his new post."

Prior to his new position as Executive Director of FSTC, Dan served as Senior Vice President & Director, in the Enterprise Technology Office at Citigroup where he was responsible for directing and coordinating Citigroup's senior representation at external organizations and standards bodies. Dan's areas of focus have included executing business-driven technology directions and strategies, providing direction for the prioritization of research and standards activities, and bringing new innovative technology such as electronic payments, e-commerce, authentication, financial engineering, and behavioral modeling to Citigroup.

Dan holds a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University. He has authored more than 65 publications and seven books including: Parallel and Distributed Processing, Application of Emerging Technologies in Business, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Military Communications, and Command and Control.

"I am excited about the opportunity to lead an organization as dynamic as FSTC," said Dan Schutzer, Executive Director. "We are involved in some significant projects that will have major impact on the industry going forward. My experience in bringing teams of professionals together to solve industry problems should prove to be an asset to the entire enterprise."

FSTC brings together diverse and often competitive financial institutions, industry services providers, government agencies and others to collaborate and find solutions to key industry challenges. Project topics come from member financial institutions and are driven by participating members with the support of the FSTC staff.
