Dow Jones Newswires, the world's leading independent provider of real-time financial and business news, has appointed Elisabeth Delbes as head of vendor relations for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Jak Riley as vendor product manager. Both positions, which are effective immediately, are newly created roles within Dow Jones Newswires' market-data vendor relations team.

Ms. Delbes will be responsible for expanding Dow Jones Newswires' relations with existing vendors, and securing distribution agreements with new vendors across the EMEA region. In this new role, she will report to Tom Waite, the London-based director of sales and business development.

Mr. Riley, who joins the vendor relations team from the Dow Jones Newswires product marketing department, will be responsible for the integration of Dow Jones news within financial information vendor systems. He will report to Ms. Delbes.

The expansion of the EMEA market-data vendor relations team reflects the success of Dow Jones Newswires' strategy since 1998 to expand the distribution of its services via a multitude of financial information platforms. Since then, Dow Jones Newswires has secured content distribution agreements with more than 60 market-data vendors in Europe, including Reuters, Bloomberg, Telekurs, Thomson and Telerate.

In 1992, Ms. Delbes joined Dow Jones Newswires in Paris as a sales person. She was promoted to sales manager for France and Benelux in 1995 and to regional sales manager for France, Benelux, Switzerland and Austria in 1998. In 2000, she joined the Dow Jones Newswires e-business consultancy team as business development manager for southern Europe and Benelux.

In 2002, Ms Delbes was given the responsibility for the pan-European mobile and consumer business. In this role, she secured a string of distribution agreements with Vodafone (UK, Netherlands, France, Portugal and Malta) and I-mode (France and the Netherlands). She will continue to manage the company's agreements with mobile telephone and wireless network operators from her base in Paris.

Mr. Riley joined Dow Jones Newswires in 1998 as customer support representative. In 2000 he became content product manager and then joined the product marketing department in 2001.

"Elisabeth's and Jak's new roles mark a significant step for our vendor relations strategy and team," said Michael Bergmeijer, vice president, international sales and marketing. "Our focus is to provide independent, real-time financial news to market-data vendors across Europe. Not only is our news available on the principal global information vendor platforms, but many national and regional vendors are carrying it as well."
