Award-winning Swiss FinTech NetGuardians has appointed to its board Paolo Buzzi, co-founder of Swissquote, Switzerland's leading provider of online financial and trading services. Paolo will be joining the board as an independent director.

NetGuardians provides real-time fraud and cyber-risk mitigation software to financial institutions. Its software uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to spot new types of fraud while minimizing the number of false alerts, increasing fraud detection and providing an improved customer experience.

Joël Winteregg, CEO and co-founder of NetGuardians, says: “We are delighted Paolo is joining our board and know he will make a substantial contribution. As co-founder and chief technical officer of Swissquote he was instrumental in growing it from a company that originally specialized in financial software and web applications into Switzerland’s leading provider of online financial and trading services.”

Swissquote is listed on the SIX Swiss exchange.

Besides his roles at Swissquote, Buzzi is also chief technical officer of Swissquote Bank and a member of the strategic advisory board at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Before founding Swissquote, he worked in the Silicon Valley as a software and new technology integration engineer at Rolm Systems.

Raffael Maio, chief operating officer and co-founder of NetGuardians, says: “Paolo is a visionary who started his own company with his partner almost straight out of university. His business model is very impressive and we are pleased to welcome such a well-qualified individual on to our board.”

Buzzi says: “I am looking forward to helping NetGuardians develop and grow. The way NetGuardians software applies artificial intelligence and machine learning to the problem of fraud is right at the cutting edge and will help financial institutions protect their customers from the criminals.”

NetGuardians has a growing client base in more than 15 countries, including Canada and Switzerland as well as elsewhere in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

It was listed as a Chartis RiskTech100® Vendor in 2018 and has been a Gartner Cool Vendor since 2015.
