Meniga, a leading provider of digital banking solutions, has opened its newest location in Barcelona, Spain.

The office has been established to meet increasing demand in the region for Meniga’s innovative, data-driven digital banking offering, and strengthens the firm’s position as the European leader in this space. With the PSD2 regulation drastically changing the landscape of banking, the demand for Open Banking services across Europe is at an all-time high. The company now has six locations worldwide, including Reykjavik, Stockholm, Helsinki, Warsaw, and London, where it is headquartered.

The Barcelona operations will focus principally on Sales & Marketing but also engineering of Meniga Aggregation Hub services, which is designed to help banks comply & capitalise on the PSD2 regulation through advanced consolidation and enrichment of banking data.

Georg Ludviksson, CEO and co-founder of Meniga, said: “Over the past few years, Barcelona has become one of Europe’s most exciting emerging hubs for fintech, and we've seen a subsequent demand from local financial institutions for innovative ways of delivering digital customer experience. In expanding our physical presence to the Iberian Peninsula, we are confident that we will tap into a rich and valuable talent pool, and grant new partners and endusers access to our portfolio of cutting-edge digital banking products.”

Heading up the new Barcelona office will be, Jakub Piotrowski, Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Customer Engagement of Meniga. He adds: “Many institutions in Spain, both from within and outside of the financial sector, are embarking on initiatives with finance management and good understanding of how people spend their money at the very heart of the transformation. By opening an office in Barcelona, we will be able to provide tailored engagement, looking not only at the Iberian peninsula but also Southern Europe – and Latin America, with strong ties to Spain. As we grow and gather more experience, we want to be in the position to share the knowledge and innovate together with our customers, many of whom are in Spain, with Santander, Ibercaja, ING and Sabadell just to name a few.”
