AXEPTA - BNL Group company dedicated to payments - is the first Italian player to launch the WeChat Pay payment service at its affiliated clients.

AXEPTA has developed a system that, thanks to the technology platform provided by SIA, allows merchants to accept payments made via WeChat App. This new payment method, based on QR code technology, will give merchants the opportunity to better serve customers of Chinese tourists, offering them the payment tool they are used to in their daily life. Thanks to this project, AXEPTA and SIA confirm a partnership that has been active for some time in the field of payment services.

"Our goal is to introduce new innovative services to allow merchants to expand their business by offering customers the best payment experience - says Stefano Calderano, CEO of AXEPTA. Thanks to the WeChat Pay, Chinese tourists can make purchases in our Country choosing to pay with their favorite wallet, simply by scanning a QR code with their smartphone”

The terminals available for the WeChat Pay acceptance will be both the traditional POS and the new Smart POS based on Android technology that AXEPTA has already launched on the market.

WeChat was born as an instant messaging app to chat with friends and share photos and videos; it is the most used messaging app in China. The way of use is simple and works on both Android devices and iOS and Windows Phone.

In China, WeChat is not only used as a simple messaging system, but also as a means of shopping online and in stores. The recent innovations on the product have made available to users a new feature that allows the transfer of money between individuals and the payment of goods or services at participating shops.

WeChat is a great Community that connects merchants with consumers and offers them, through targeted marketing campaigns, the opportunity to make themselves known.

According to the China Tourism Academy, Chinese tourism in Europe is expected to grow further, reaching around 20 million Chinese visitors a year. Considering that the second destination preferred by the Chinese is precisely Italy, it will be essential to be able to seize this business opportunity in our country.
