Tap for Change launches to offer a one-stop shop for charities looking to move to contactless donations.

Marketing agency Earnest and charity payments specialists LibertyPay have partnered to launch Tap for Change, a service designed to get charities set up with contactless donation technology.

Thanks to the decline in the use of cash and the increase in adoption of contactless payments in the UK (£34 billion was spent using contactless cards in the UK last year), Earnest and LibertyPay saw the need to provide a simple and cost effective offer for charities who want to move to a new way of fundraising and make the leap from cash to contactless.

Through Tap for Change charities can design, set up and rent their own contactless donation boxes for as little as £25 per month. The contactless donation boxes can be configured to a set donation amount for when donors tap their card and also give those looking to give to charity the opportunity to change the amount they donate on the box itself. Charities will also have access to analytics for each box to keep track of how they perform.

Tap for Change is also developing a ‘Sponsor a Box’ scheme – enabling the general public to pay for contactless donation boxes for the charity to use, in turn receiving reports on how many donations their box has enabled.

James Wood, Head of Earnest Labs, said “While there is a huge leap in contactless payments in the UK over the last year, with over 3 billion contactless taps in 2017, we think it’s about time the world of donations moved on from change in a bucket and being hassled while you do your shopping to giving donors a simple and pain free way of donating”

Marc Frost, Founder and CEO of LibertyPay, said "As specialists in charity payments, we know that charities need to innovate and develop their fundraising efforts to keep ahead. Building this offer means charities and not for profit organisations, both large and small, can add another vital channel to their income generation"
