Barclays will host Cyber Security Challenge UK’s next Face-to-Face competition on Saturday 7 October at its technology centre at Radbroke Hall in Cheshire, to identify talented individuals who might be suited to a career in cyber security.

The competition is open to UK residents not currently working in cyber security. To secure an invite to the live event, entrants must complete two challenging cyber security games, which pit their coding and problem solving skills against the best in the industry. Entrants must successfully complete the online games by 5pm on Friday 15 September. Details are on CSCUK’s website: https://cschallenge.uk/BarclaysF2F17

Commenting on the partnership, Troels Oerting, Barclays Group Chief Security Officer, said:

“The growth of AI and connected devices mean cyber threats are growing exponentially, which makes cyber security one of the fastest growing areas of the technology sector, expected to grow to a $120bn industry by the end of this year.

Finding and recruiting the cyber security experts we need to take on this threat takes imagination. There is no single, conventional career path so we need a new approach to identify and recruit the right people. This competition we are sponsoring with Cyber Security Challenge UK requires no formal qualifications - it is open to people as young as 15 years of age and aims to encourage them to use their skills to serve society and develop amazing career under the stewardship of Barclays.”

Barclays F2F Qualifier Module 1:

Something is Calling Me: Cyber security firm Research4U wants you to search for information relating to their latest research prior to it being released. You will have a series of increasingly difficult challenges that will test a number of your cyber skills ranging from internal penetration testing, data analysis, source code interrogation and professional values.

This game can be found in: Network Defence, Technical Security and Controls; Medium; Cyphinx/POD ID: 217

Barclays F2F Qualifier Module 2:

Something is Watching: After having their blog site compromised and their report leaked to the World Wide Web, Research4U are in desperate need of their vulnerabilities being fixed. This challenge focuses on web application security and requires you to highlight the possible flaws within Research4U’s website. This will test your skills in the general weakness of the web application, highlighting vulnerabilities the attackers may have exploited, and protecting the application against future attacks and professional values.

This game can be found in: Network Defence, Technical Security and Controls, Hard; Cyphinx/POD ID: 218

Both qualifiers will take around 8hrs to complete.
