Stockholm Fintech Hub today announces the beginning of a strategic partnership with Handelsbanken, one of Sweden’s major banking institutions.

The partnership is a further example of Stockholm Fintech Hub’s strategy to expand its network and build a sustainable ecosystem of banks, regulators and fintech startups and give them the space they need to collaborate.

The partnership with Handelsbanken will help position the bank at the centre of the journey towards innovative digital financial services. Handelsbanken will enjoy the benefits of an open working environment shared with other banks, fintech startups, and other players in the market in the hub , which is based in the offices above Central train station in Stockholm, Sweden.

Matthew Agent, CEO of Stockholm Fintech Hub, says “This partnership is another important milestone when it comes to connecting the different areas of the fintech ecosystem. The addition of Handelsbanken will help reinforce the notion that the Stockholm Fintech Hub is place where incumbent actors in the financial system can work side by side with fintech startups and learn from each other.”

“To strengthen our strategy which is centred around personal relationships, Handelsbanken is looking for innovation to make the digital experience more personal and the personal meeting more digital ” says Stephan Erne, Chief Digital Officer Handelsbanken. “Partnering with the Stockholm Fintech Hub will give us the possibility to develop new services in collaboration with fintechs and other players.”

Handelsbanken’s partnership with the Stockholm Fintech Hub is effective immediately and will see the bank involved in workshops, presentations and potential sandbox environments – as well as social gatherings at the hub where representatives from startups and incumbent banks can discuss the future of financial services in an informal environment.
