Compass Plus, an international provider of electronic payments and retail banking software to processors and financial institutions, has announced that Quipu, a third party processor, has become the first processing centre in Kosovo to offer acquiring and issuing for contactless cards.

To enable the project, Quipu expanded its usage of the TranzWare product suite from Compass Plus - which it has used since 2004. With 6,000 Visa payWave and Mastercard PayPass contactless cards issued by the centre in less than a month, Quipu Card Personalisation Centre plans to have supplied 20,000 by the end of 2016.

Eugenio Marengo, Head of Quipu Processing Centre at Quipu, said: “Our commitment to bringing the latest innovations in card technology to our clients and to the countries we operate in is one of our key business objectives and at the very core of what we do. Thanks to our personalisation centre in Kosovo and through our long-term partnership with Compass Plus - utilising their flexible state-of-the-art solutions - we continue to achieve ambitious card issuance goals in a timely manner.”

Delivering processing services to 27 financial institutions across 11 time zones, Quipu’s high level of availability has ensured bank clients are able to provide their customers with unrivalled service reliability. It has issued a total of 891,000 cards to date, with 1,200 installed ATMs, 6,000 POS terminals, and around 4 million transactions processed per month.
