Star Systems® (STAR), a First Data Company, today announced that it has renewed its agreement with Union Bank of California.

Under the terms of the long-term agreement, the STAR Network will continue to provide PIN-secured debit access at retailers and ATMS, and ATM and signature debit card processing for Union Bank of California's 560 ATMs and 1.2 million ATM and signature debit cards.

"We're very pleased to continue our service to Union Bank," said Ronald V. Congemi, president, Star Systems/Debit Services. "Union Bank's ongoing participation in the STAR Network means that millions of consumers in the Western United States will enjoy uninterrupted access to innovative, secure electronic payment services and a more convenient banking and payment experience."

"As a trusted partner, we are fortunate to have this type of strong relationship with STAR," said Charles Pedersen, executive vice president. "From risk management to emerging debit payment channels, STAR's technology and service are an integral part of our efforts to let our customers decide how, when and where they want to bank."

In 2003, the STAR Network served 1.26 million retail and ATM locations nationwide. In February 2004, STAR became part of the First Data family of companies. Congemi added, "As part of First Data we're looking forward to using our combined resources to deliver even more valuable services to our financial institution participants."
