The ground breaking scheme, under the project name SOSafe, is based in London and backed by Hamish Ogston CBE, a serial entrepreneur and philanthropist who began developing the new idea in 2014.

Mr Ogston said: "In spite of the huge technological advances in recent years it amazes me that we as consumers still have such a cumbersome experience when doing something so simple as cancelling a lost bank card. Our goal is to bring convenience, security and peace of mind to our customers. We aim to offer users in more than 50 countries the very real benefits of low-cost and easy to use smartphone-based services."

With SOSafe consumers will be able to use their mobile smartphones or laptops to manage everything concerning the use and security of their payment cards, alternative accounts, digital identity and personal data. To achieve this £10 million will be invested in extensive new IT infrastructure for SOSafe’s six digital consumer propositions.

DWC is providing specialist digital consultancy and software engineering services in support of this innovative global project which will require the development of brand new, highly complex apps and security features. It is also advising on the infrastructure and eco-system of partnerships needed to introduce the proposition worldwide.

DWC is well placed to meet the challenge, drawing on its considerable experience in innovation, strategy and leadership. Its founder, Daryl Wilkinson, has roots in technology and financial services, and it has a partnership with one of the UK's premier financial services, mobile and internet banking software development firms.
