Transaction Network Services (TNS) has appointed Michelle Ellis as its UK customer support manager to facilitate expansion of its international financial service offerings.
In her new role Michelle will work closely with buy and sell-side clients in the UK to identify new business and connectivity opportunities and to ensure seamless delivery of new LVC connections and service upgrades.
She has joined TNS' growing financial markets team in London. Earlier this year, the company appointed Alex Walker as vice president, Financial Markets to drive TNS' sales outside North America.
Michelle comments: "TNS has a first-rate reputation among the buy and sell-side community for fast, secure and reliable Financial Information eXchange (FIX) and non-FIX-based connectivity services.
"With extension of industry standards such as FIX beyond the equities space, we have identified opportunities to advance TNS' network and voice, market data and wide-area network capabilities.
"A key element in the company's expansion will be leveraging relationships with existing clients and partners such as third-party networks, technology and market data providers and traditional and alternative trading venues."
Previously, Michelle worked for information and application provider Thomson Financial in London for 15 years. As sales training manager, she was responsible for developing training for 100 staff in the Thomson ONE product, following the firm's acquisition of content and software applications company, Primark, in 2000.
Joining the firm's International Financing Review magazine as an advertising assistant in 1990, she progressed through marketing roles at its Securities Database Corporation to become European customer support manager working with analysts to develop the firm's global real-time market product range.
Alex Walker, vice president, TNS, said: "Michelle's appointment comes at an exciting time for the industry and the company. She brings extensive knowledge of UK and international financial markets and experience of developing and marketing financial services and products. "
In the past 12 months, TNS has also recruited country managers in the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria and extended its presence with new points-of-presence in Central and Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia.
