The Cheque and Credit Clearing Company (C&CCC) has announced the appointment of Jane Bevis as the new independent Chair of its Board.
Jane takes on the position from today, Monday 2 November 2015, and replaces Les Thwaites, who has stepped down after four years in the role.
Jane has been an Independent Director with the C&CCC since February 2014. She runs her own consultancy company, undertaking communications and sustainability projects, and chairs the Board of OPRL Ltd, which runs the UK's voluntary packaging recycling label scheme. Jane has previously held senior roles at the British Retail Consortium, the Association of British Insurers, HM Treasury and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Regarding her appointment, Jane Bevis said:
“I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of the C&CCC Board as we move into the implementation phase of a major modernisation programme. I'd like to thank Les for his leadership as we made the big decisions to invest in new infrastructure. This is an exciting time for cheques, as the industry invests in an image-based clearing process that will bring cheques firmly into the digital world.
“My experience to date at Cheque and Credit gives me great confidence that cheque users and their needs are very much at the heart of its strategy. Cheque imaging, and the processing economies it offers, will make cheques more sustainable as we continue to provide this service to those who want it, including the most vulnerable in our society. And it opens up all sorts of new possibilities.”
