Knet, the provider of electronic banking services to all Kuwaiti banks, has today announced the selection of Spire Payments as a key supplier of end-to-end payment solutions.

This significant statement made at Cards and Payments Middle East 2015 will ultimately see the widespread deployment of Spire Payments’ market-leading POS solutions across Kuwait. Utilising the very latest mobile and contactless/NFC (near field communication) capabilities, this strategic partnership will ensure Kuwaiti banks are amongst the first in the region to capitalise on this innovative technology.

With its headquarters in Dubai, Spire Payments MEA, a subsidiary of Spire payments Group, has significant capabilities demonstrated by the rapid development of the accredited Knet payment application residing on the POS device. In addition, the MEA base will provide technical support and repairs while ensuring Knet can capitalise on the latest technological innovations brought to market by Spire Payments. This is typified by the company’s latest range of POS devices - the ‘SP’ family - offering a solution for all environments: countertop (IP, dial-up and GPRS), mobile wireless (WiFi and GPRS), retail PIN Pads and mPOS. All are contactless/NFC capable, PCI PTS compliant, and share common software architecture and SDK (software development kit). This approach and level of compliance will ensure Knet’s customers can be confident the SP range will deliver optimum lifespan and the latest functionality once deployed.

Abdulla Khaled Al-Ajmi, CEO of Knet explains, “Knet is committed to pursuing and adopting the very latest technologies in electronic banking to provide solutions and services of the highest standards for our member banks. As part of this commitment we have decided to choose Spire Payments as a strategic supplier based on their comprehensive range of POS devices, in-region services and market-renowned expertise. We look forward to working with Spire Payments for many years to come.”

Kazem Aminaee, CEO and President of Spire Payments, says of the announcement, “This is a significant day for Spire Payments and a natural progression of our long-standing relationship with Knet. We believe strongly the Middle East region has exceptional potential and this will be the first of many announcements in the coming months.”
