WorldRemit launches in five new countries

Online money transfer service WorldRemit has launched in five countries in South America and Eastern Europe.

WorldRemit customers can now send money transfers direct to the bank accounts of their friends and family in Chile, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Bulgaria.

Founded by Dr Ismail Ahmed, ‘the man changing the world of remittances’ according to the BBC, WorldRemit provides a quick, convenient, and low-cost way for people to send money to friends and family abroad. People in 50 countries can send money to more than 120 destinations. Customers can use WorldRemit anywhere, anytime on their smartphone, tablet, or computer.

In February 2015, WorldRemit received a $100m funding round led by Technology Crossover Ventures.
