Andrew will lead an expanded Market Operations function, which has been designed to provide a robust, comprehensive and high quality operational service to all of the LME’s customers. This team will encompass the LME’s existing electronic trading, matching, market data and warrant management operational services, as well as the price discovery department, headed by Peter Childs, and all market supervision functions.

Andrew has 19 years of experience leading market operations for financial exchanges. He has a comprehensive operational background with change management and project management expertise. He joins from NYSE Liffe, where he held the position of Executive Director of Market Services, and was responsible for the front-line operation of the derivatives markets. Prior to this he worked in Liffe Market Supervision from 1996 to 2002, managing post-trade operations.

Andrew previously worked in loan administration and post-trade operations for Commerzbank from 1991 to 1996, where he also headed the derivatives operations team.

“Andrew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the LME and will be of great value as we refocus our operational and IT services for the benefit of our users,” said LME Chief Executive, Garry Jones.

The formation of the new Market Operations team comes alongside a broader streamlining of the LME’s IT function, with the aim of providing a more focussed service provision for market users, and of bolstering certain functions including cyber security.

Andrew will join the LME’s Executive Committee, and will report to Stuart Sloan, Chief Operating Officer. His appointment is effective from 13 April 2015.
