Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), and Sunopsis, a technology innovator in the data integration market, today announced that Teradata will serve as a worldwide reseller of the Sunopsis family of data integration software.
Driven by joint customers, this partnership centres on Sunopsis' ELT solution for Teradata, a highly powerful extract-load-transform (ELT) software solution designed to allow Teradata customers to efficiently load and transform large volumes of data from source systems into their enterprise data warehouse even when dealing with the most complex data transformations. Traditionally, data transformation has been done on a separate server with an extract-transform-load (ETL) solution prior to being loaded into the data warehouse. With the Sunopsis-Teradata ELT solution, the transformations are done in the Teradata engine, taking advantage of the database's power and scalability. Performing the transactions in the database eliminates the need for a dedicated transformation server, thereby simplifying a customer's architecture and implementation, decreasing their costs and shortening their learning curve.
"The combination of Sunopsis and Teradata is one of the main drivers behind the success of Overstock's high-performance, highly scalable enterprise data warehouse," said Jack Garzella, vice president of data warehouse reporting and analytics at Overstock.com. "This agreement between the two companies will further enhance the value of their joint solutions. By combining Teradata's powerful database engine with Sunopsis' data integration software, we've been able to successfully meet our very high-volume data integration requirements. We are now able to access key business data much more efficiently and make more timely and intelligent business decisions. We are pleased at the prospect of an even tighter integration between Teradata and Sunopsis."
"Our relationship with Sunopsis provides an ELT solution that allows Teradata to continue to deliver innovative approaches and powerful solutions for solving our customers' most complex data warehousing issues," said Scott Collins, vice president of global alliances for Teradata. "By handling transformations in the database, Sunopsis leverages Teradata's ability to process massive amounts of data and perform complex calculations using its highly scalable, massively parallel processing technology. Our customers clearly see the benefit in this."
"We are delighted to pair our leading data integration platform with Teradata's industry-leading enterprise data warehouse offerings to create a powerful solution for our current and future joint customers," said John Rauscher, chief operating officer at Sunopsis. "As a result of this reseller relationship, Sunopsis will benefit from Teradata's large sales and support organization, enabling us to provide a winning value proposition to Teradata's customers. Sunopsis is committed to the long-term support of the Teradata platform and the success of our mutual customers."
