First Data names Dan Charron EVP, global business solutions

First Data Corporation, the global leader in payment technology and services solutions, today appointed Dan Charron as Executive Vice President, Global Business Solutions.

Charron, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report to First Data Chairman and CEO Frank Bisignano and will serve on the company’s Management Committee.

“Dan Charron is a legendary leader in payments who has worked creatively and tirelessly throughout his distinguished career to build one of the outstanding organizations in our industry,” said Chairman and CEO Frank Bisignano. “We’re honored to have Dan on our team, working to strengthen our client and partner relationships and to greatly expand our business solutions footprint around the world. Dan joins a broadly transformed management team at First Data that has, over the past two years, added to existing talent with some of the best minds in financial services,” Bisignano added.

Before joining First Data, Charron spent 14 years at Chase Paymentech, the global payment processing business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. He joined that company in 2000, taking on roles of increasing responsibility until being named president in 2013. Prior to Paymentech, Charron was a managing partner at US Web-CKS, a global internet consultancy, and served in multiple executive roles at Total System Services (TSYS), a credit card processor, merchant acquirer and bank credit card issuer.

“For nearly a quarter century, I’ve admired First Data from many angles, as competitor, joint venture partner, client, vendor, and now as part the team working to transform the business,” said Dan Charron. “I look forward to working across multiple functions and geographies to provide First Data’s six million clients across the world with the products, services and solutions they need to grow their business,” Charron added.

As an industry leader, Charron has also served on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) in addition to other indas also served on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) in addition to other industry roles, including Chairman of the Board of Merchantlink, a company that offers cloud-based payment gateway and data security solutions to hotels, restaurants and retailers.

Charron is a 1986 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in civil engineering and construction management. After his military service, Charron received a master’s degree in business administration from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Charron resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, Susan. They have two grown children.
