Elavon, a leading global payments provider, and Bank of the West have extended their 21-year referral agreement for merchant services through 2021. Referrals for new business will be marketed through Bank of the West's 22-state banking network of more than 650 commercial office and retail branch locations.

“We appreciate Elavon’s support in enabling our customers to accept payments in traditional and new, innovative ways,” said Alan Newstead, senior vice president of retail banking product strategy at Bank of the West. “At Bank of the West our customers are at the center of our business, and we know Elavon is aligned with our commitment to provide service-oriented, long-term value to them; we look forward to building on our merchant services alliance.”

Under the terms, the bank’s existing and new merchant customers can take advantage of innovative, simple and secure payment solutions, including credit and debit card acceptance, enhanced reporting, a comprehensive security program, and gift card and loyalty solutions. These same customers will also have access to enhanced products that appeal to today’s tech-savvy cardholders, solutions including EMV technology embedded with NFC readers to enable mobile payments and tablet based payment solutions that replace traditional cash registers. Further, Elavon is expanding geographic coverage and availability of payment consultants across Bank of the West’s network as part of the extended relationship.

“Twenty-one years and counting is the kind of testimonial that makes me proud to be a part of Elavon,” said Guy Harris, president of North America at Elavon. “I’m even prouder that we continue to earn the business of Bank of the West,” he said. “Working with Bank of the West has been tremendous for Elavon. Together, we will enable commerce in innovative, new ways to help merchants manage the cost of payments.”
