Noel Moran CEO of Prepaid Financial Services said"We are very excited to partner with iKort on this project. iKort are very experienced and innovative and we have plans to extend the offering over the coming months and add new functionality to ensure the iKort card becomes the consumer's local card of choice.

This is yet another milestone for PFS and following our recent launch in Finland this is now the 19th country in which our products and services are live. It is also another first for MasterCard and we continue to be at the forefront of prepaid launches in new countries. We are, very often, first to market in various countries and 2014 will see PFS launching approximately 50 programs for clients across Europe.

Issuing in Icelandic Kroner adds to the number of currencies supported by PFS which means we now support 18 different currencies."

Ingolfur Gudmundsson, CEO at iKort, commented "We are pleased to have launched iKort in Iceland - a prepaid card that enables users to achieve maximum security and have complete privacy with their on-line and electronic payments.

iKort is not connected to a bank account. Until now all debit and credit cards in Iceland have been issued by local banks. We know that many Icelanders are interested in keeping their information about their card transactions confidential. Our customers can choose between instant issue cards with non-personalised names, and personalised cards with their names on them. Each cardholder can have up to three additional cards for friends and family members abroad."
