With Markit's Collaboration Services, Infosel will enable its nearly 5,000 users to instant message people throughout the financial services industry, including those outside the Infosel network, in a secure environment conducive to collaboration and information sharing.
Users of the Infosel terminal will connect to Markit's global network via the Microsoft Lync messaging software. Markit's central directory for the open network will also be deployed within the Infosel platform, allowing users to search for and connect with other professionals in the industry.
Arturo Gómez Villarreal, chief executive officer of Infosel, said: "We believe that making it easy for financial professionals to communicate between terminal environments is a major innovation for our industry and we are proud to be among the first providers to help make this vision come true. Interoperability of messaging systems, made possible by Markit, enhances our service and gives our customers what they want -- the ability to communicate across the industry while using the tools from Infosel."
Andrew Eisen, managing director and head of Collaboration Services at Markit, said: "Open networks will change how business is conducted in the financial industry. Welcoming Infosel to Collaboration Services demonstrates the appeal of our network to terminal providers around the world and their ability to work together to create a diverse global community, including those in emerging markets. Infosel customers will have access to more than 200,000 other financial professionals already connected with Markit's Collaboration Services."
Collaboration Services was launched in October 2013 with the support of Thomson Reuters and eight global banks. By federating messaging networks and technologies, Markit offers a global network that enables people to send instant messages and use chat rooms securely across disparate messaging platforms.
