DEVnet, a leading technology services and solutions consultancy in financial trading and risk management, has announced that it is releasing an open source version of its building blocks for Kx Systems' high performance database kdb+.
The move will make it easier for firms to develop applications built on kdb+, enabling them to be deployed more quickly and reducing the total cost of ownership.
DEVnet, a strategic partner of the Palo Alto, Ca.-based software company Kx Systems, has been developing these software components over several years and has already deployed them reliably in trading environments across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
Kdb+ is used widely in the financial services sector for applications such as automated trading monitoring, pre-trade analysis and algorithmic trading analytics engines. More recently, its high-performance database has been tapped by other sectors including utilities and pharmaceuticals.
"We have been solving companies' complex business requirements by helping them build applications on kdb+ for many years, and we recognized the value of making this knowledge open source," said Robin Mess, Director of Sales at DEVnet. "With this move, we are making it easier for firms to leverage the strength of the kdb+ core technology to support their businesses."
Janet Lustgarten, CEO of Kx Systems added, "We are delighted our partner has selected to share this with the community. Our community efforts will work best if very experienced Kx technologists like DEVnet share some of the fantastic results they have obtained over the years."
