The patent for invention 8,707,029 covers Entersekt's unique consumer authentication system, a means of validating online users and their actions through their mobile devices. With all communication between handsets and online service providers' servers fully secured, users, in turn, can be confident that they will not be exposed to online fraud.

"Established approaches to online security have not been able to contain an explosion in digital crime, so we set out to engineer something entirely new," said Christiaan Brand, Entersekt's co-founder and chief technology officer. "Enormous advances in mobile technology, coupled with the power of public key infrastructure, provided us with the tools to radically strengthen online security while meeting consumer demand for time-saving convenience. This patent caps off a furious burst of development at Entersekt and we look forward to an exciting time ahead!"

The system associated with the patent includes a certificate authority configured to issue digital certificates to mobile devices and online service providers' application servers, as well as software applications operating on both platforms. These digital certificates may be used by the mobile device and application server to uniquely identify one another, as well as to exchange encryption keys in order to fully encrypt all communication between the two end points.

By simultaneously verifying both the service provider and the mobile device in use, Entersekt's products eliminate the need for expensive hardware tokens and cumbersome one-time passwords, which have proven ineffective against today's advanced online fraud schemes. Certified to authenticate online Visa, MasterCard and American Express card transactions, Entersekt's technology is compatible with hundreds of models of mobile phones on all major platforms and has enabled its customers to fully eliminate successful online and mobile fraud attacks.
