Cognos (NasdaqNM:COGN) (Toronto:CSN.TO), the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management, and OpenPages, the leading provider of enterprise governance, risk and compliance management (GRCM) solutions, today announced the two companies have extended their initial technology agreement to deliver enhanced compliance dashboard and reporting capabilities for OpenPages customers.

Available now, OpenPages CommandCenter helps organizations increase productivity by providing greater awareness of potential risk exposures through dynamic, graphical views into the current state of their internal controls framework for more effective support of governance, risk and compliance initiatives including Sarbanes-Oxley.

Under the agreement, OpenPages' CommandCenter for SOX Express now includes embedded reporting through Cognos ReportNet. Cognos ReportNet offers a complete, pure Web-based enterprise query and reporting environment, rich multi-dimensional analysis and visualization, a complete environment for ad-hoc and managed reporting, event management, and data integration, all built on a services-oriented architecture. All CommandCenter dashboards and reports generated in SOX Express are delivered by Cognos ReportNet, providing customer organizations with actionable insight into all aspects of their internal controls information.

Cognos-powered CommandCenter is OpenPages' suite of executive dashboards and reports designed to accelerate review and approval of GRCM information throughout the enterprise. Customers can drill-through to detailed sub-reports of other live GRCM data within SOX Express. This capability speeds issues resolution and provides organizations with immediate access to the detailed internal controls information they require for exception monitoring.

CommandCenter dashboards and reports can be used by executives, project managers, documentation team members, internal auditors and external auditors to view the current state of compliance processes in the organization.

"This technology will let companies manage the overall process of compliance.... The benefit of these technologies is that they permit much faster reaction to problematic compliance areas.... Constant awareness conditions managers to sustain compliance, not forget about it," said John Hagerty, Vice President AMR Research, in the alert titled, "SOX Decisions 2005."

"A key element to effective, efficient and sustainable compliance is the ability to quickly identify and remediate key issues within a company's internal controls framework. With CommandCenter, powered by ReportNet, OpenPages is providing its customers and prospects with unparalleled capabilities for monitoring governance, risk and compliance processes," said Peter Emerson, vice president of business development at OpenPages. "Extending our relationship with Cognos further underscores our commitment to the synergies between risk and performance management in the enterprise."
