Deutsche Börse launches notification feed for upcoming economic releases

Deutsche Börse - Market Data + Services today announced the launch of AlphaFlash Risk Signal, a notification system that informs users of upcoming economic releases and then alerts them the moment the economic indicator is released.

"By alerting clients as early as 24 hours in advance, AlphaFlash Risk Signal gives customers the opportunity to adjust their trading strategies prior to the release of an individual macroeconomic event. In doing so, the new data feed enables stronger risk management for automated traders and other market participants," said Georg Gross, Head of Content, Market Data + Services, Deutsche Börse.

AlphaFlash Risk Signal sends alert messages that are unique to each economic indicator at different time intervals, starting at 24 hours, one hour, one minute, 30 seconds and 10 seconds before release. A final message to confirm that the data has been released is sent within milliseconds. The feed also sends out the actual reported data immediately upon release.

The alert messages are sent in binary format via IP multicast or TCP making the feed easy for users to integrate into their trading and risk infrastructure.

AlphaFlash Risk Signal currently covers more than 150 important economic indicators globally and releases such as central bank interest rate decisions, employment numbers, housing statistics, gross domestic product figures, CPI, industrial output and USDA releases. Official sources include U.S. Departments of Labor, Treasury and Commerce, The Conference Board, National Association of Realtors, Bank of Canada, European Central Bank, Bank of England, Z.E.W. and German Ministry of Economics.

AlphaFlash Risk Signal is the latest addition to Deutsche Börse's offering of automated news feeds under the AlphaFlash brand. The AlphaFlash offering delivers more than 300 market moving events, such as key macroeconomic indicators, treasury auctions results and German corporate news. AlphaFlash subscribers can choose among several data packages, e.g. U.S., Canadian and European economic indicators, U.S. Treasury Auctions, the Chicago Business Barometer ("Chicago PMI"), the Corporate News Germany feed, the Fitch Ratings feed and the new Risk Signal feed. AlphaFlash is available in a number of data centers across the globe, including Chicago, Secaucus (New Jersey), Washington D.C., Frankfurt and London. It also is accessible via CFN's Alpha Platform and TMX Atrium's network.
