Clear2Pay, the international technology provider of next generation payment solutions for financial institutions, today announces that EMVCo, the EMV standards body has qualified the Clear2Pay EMV Contactless Card and Device Type Approval Level 1 Test Suites.
Prior to commercial roll-out, contactless payment cards and terminals require official certification proving conformity to the governing EMVCo specifications. Clear2Pay's test solutions will be used in accredited test laboratories and are available to facilitate the industry's debugging and pre-certification requirements.
The update of the EMV Contactless Card Test Suite is particularly interesting since it now incorporates EMVCo enhanced scenarios for card emulation in mobile devices testing. Dedicated test scenarios are fundamental because a mobile device that emulates a contactless payment card typically has a more dynamic behavior than a "traditional" chip-based contactless payment card. The enhanced test scenarios simulate 'real life' mobile payment behavior (including the UICC) and allow for more extensive testing.
Compliance to the EMVCo protocol specifications facilitate the acceptance by the payment card brands, which is the first hurdle to take before moving onto functional conformance.
Jean de Crane, Chief Operations Officer at Clear2Pay, comments: "With contactless payments gaining ground around the world, it makes perfect sense to have dedicated test scenarios to ensure that mobile devices meet the same requirements as physical cards. We are delighted to be the first company ever getting this qualification from the EMV standards body."
