The Board of earthport, the electronic payments infrastructure company, has pleasure in announcing the appointment of Noel Jones (62) as Technical Advisor to the Board.
The role will cover the overall control, design and direction of the technology, which forms a major part of the Company's offering to the payments market, with particular emphasis on the scalability and speed of the earthport Universal Payment Network (UPN).
Noel has wide ranging and up-to-date knowledge of the IT market place and technology gained through a career that has included marketing and P&L responsibility in an international environment, management of large scale, leading edge development projects, negotiation of major contracts with both vendors and clients and the defining and implementation of Technical Architecture for Global investment banks.
From 1999 to 2002 Noel was Chief Technical Architect at UBS. Achievements whilst at UBS included the definition of Global Technical Architecture, the selection of appropriate vendors and technologies, its successful implementation as a shared managed service to be used by all the business lines of the investment bank.
Prior to this appointment he held a series of positions at UBS, between 1997-99 he was Global Head of Systems Architecture & Engineering. Between 1995-97 he was Head of Technology Management Europe.
Also at UBS in 1993 he became Head of IT Strategy Europe. From 1990-1993 he was Head of IT Strategy London.
From 1982-1990 he worked at Data General Ltd, culminating in the role of Manager Software Product Marketing, tasked with profitably adding to the corporation's portfolio of software products by acquisition and/or development.
Prior to this he worked from 1970-1982 at Leasco Software Ltd and from 1961-1969 at British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC)
