Sterling Bank, the principal operating subsidiary of Sterling Financial Corporation (STSA), today announced that it is launching a robust business mobile banking suite.

The Sterling Biz Mobile app for iPhone and Androiddevices is designed specifically for business banking customers. Customers can also access accounts through the Sterling Mobile Web platform to make transfers, track recent transactions and pay bills, among other services.

"We are excited to debut the Sterling mobile banking suite to our business customers to fulfill their desire to conveniently bank on-the-go," said Patricia Baughman, SVP and product management and market research executive at Sterling Bank. "The design of our new business mobile offerings allows us to have a single, consistent user experience across different digital banking platforms and channels."

Sterling Biz Mobile provides business customers with the capability to access information and manage their assets from their smartphones, including:

  • View account balances and transactions
  • Search for specific transactions
  • Transfer funds between accounts with Sterling
  • Pay vendors and other payees
  • View and cancel scheduled payments
  • Search for nearby Sterling branches and ATMs
  • Deposit checks using image capture mobile deposit

Sterling Biz Mobile is available for free download today through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Unlike many other banks, Sterling offers mobile deposits at no additional charge. Using the camera on a smartphone, customers can make deposits simply by taking a picture of the front and back of an endorsed check, entering the check amount and selecting the deposit account. On-screen confirmations and email notifications communicate the status of the deposit. The bank's Mobile Web solution is identical to its smartphone app, but without the mobile deposit feature. To ensure business banking customers can make safe transactions across these digital services, Mobile Web and mobile app platforms integrate various security features such as advanced sign-on authentication, which uses complex device identification at each sign-on to mobile banking. When the service detects an unrecognized device, multifactor authentication works to further verify the identity of customers before accessing account information.

Baughman added, "We plan to launch an iPad app in the next 30 days. We also are developing additional features, to be released throughout 2014, including mobile transaction approvals for cash management services like wire and ACH transactions."
