Through this step, Wincor Nixdorf will be adding highly specialized expertise to its own software portfolio for retail companies. In addition, Wincor Nixdorf will also be taking over employees from DATEC.

DATEC specializes primarily in data integration as part of omni-channel and merchandise management processes and has its own software, which makes sales advice and payment and merchandise management functions available on mobile devices such as tablets. Mobile devices are growing in importance in retailing for customer consulting and store management.

The acquisition is part of Wincor Nixdorf's recently announced move to expand its software business. "Our mission in business with retail companies is to deliver software applications demanded by the market for all sizes of store and sales channels," stated President & CEO Eckard Heidloff.

"Integration in the Wincor Nixdorf Group offers DATEC a huge opportunity to do business with large retailers and internationalize its activities. Thanks to our e-commerce offerings and apps, we also cater for an importance segment in Wincor Nixdorf's software portfolios for retailing," said Jindrich Hegmon, Managing Director and majority shareholder of DATEC.
