Lusis SA, a leading provider of mission-critical transaction processing systems, today announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in California.

The move follows an increased focus in the region, which has resulted in a number of successes, including the acquisition of a major tier-one customer in North America.

"This development is a significant one in the retail payments landscape in North America and beyond," said Richard Launder, chairman, Lusis Payments. "TANGO from Lusis Payments offers a proven, innovative technology, providing its clients with the environment to address the challenges of operating a payment system in the 21st century. This, coupled with the local presence, creates a credible payments software alternative that North American market demands."

Phillipe Preval, CEO of Lusis, said "We invested in porting Tango to HP NonStop specifically to address the significant opportunity that exists in retail payments on that platform. This offering creates tremendous flexibility for our North American customers and prospects. Moreover, it ensures that our clients' needs, whether HP NonStop or open systems, will be well served both now and long into the future."

As part of the investment in the new region. Brian Miller has been named Vice President & GM of Lusis Payments Inc. Miller will work to ensure that Lusis Payments clients experience a positive, longterm and highly rewarding relationship with the organization. "Transparency, respect and openness are a given to this group, and a cornerstone to our operation," Miller said. "Lusis Payments is staffed by a team of highly experienced professionals with extensive knowledge of the retail payments sector," Launder said.

"Having spent more than 25 years in the retail payments space, Brian's involvement further adds to this knowledge and capability. The know-how and commitment of this group positions Lusis as the perfect partner for organizations replacing outmoded legacy systems or looking to implement new, highly proficient retail payment solutions."

"I am very pleased to be joining Lusis Payments as part of a team highly focused on delivering a unique proposition to the North American market." Miller said. The strategy of other vendors in the market remains uncertain, making it critical that the industry draws on experts who have the capabilities and insight to maintain performance and offer future expansion opportunities.
