Anderson Zaks, a leading Omni-channel Payment Service Provider (PSP), has announced the availability of RedCard for Android. The new application provides a secure integrated card processing environment that is specifically designed for Android tablet computers typically used in retail, hospitality, transportation and other high transaction environments.

RedCard for Android integrates wirelessly via Bluetooth to a combined card reader and PIN pad. In addition, the RedCard API has been extended to support integration with Android powered EPOS and business applications.

Iain High, Managing Director of Anderson Zaks said; "With a lower price point for both hardware and on-going licensing costs, Android is fast becoming the platform of choice for mobile business. The majority of previously announced Android payment applications have been designed for smartphones, and are targeted at micro-merchants. RedCard for Android is a more scalable, enterprise-grade solution making it suitable for busy environments with high transaction volumes and long opening hours."

The initial card reader/PIN pad model supported is the Datecs MPED 400. Currently the range of certified card reading PIN pads that can connect wirelessly is limited, but as new devices are released RedCard for Android will be ready to support them.

Andrew Reason, General Sales Manager, Business Solutions and Systems Divisions at Casio, a leading supplier of ruggedized tablet devices for the retail sector commented; "Increasingly we are seeing demand for Android-based card payment solutions as retailers and merchants look to take advantage of the latest mobile technology. Casio Tough Tablets are increasingly used for a variety of business operations, and now our customers want to use them to take payments as well. Anderson Zaks' RedCard is a proven payment processing service, with top security credentials, and will enable merchants to extend their payment solutions to a more mobile environment, helping them to manage queues more effectively and operate temporary pop-up stores."
