Stokes brings a wealth of experience to SuperDerivatives. Most recently, he was complex hybrid risk trader at Commerzbank in London. There he initiated and developed the firm's medium to long-term hybrid foreign exchange/interest rate business. He has also held senior appointments in interest rate options at JPMorgan Chase and Rabo Bank.
"I am thrilled that we have hired a person of Tony's caliber to lead and oversee SuperDerivatives' imminent expansion into the interest rate arena. Our plan to replicate our success in currency options in interest rates options requires a very deep understanding of the market and its players. Tony's vast experience and market knowledge gives us that and is already proving invaluable," says David Gershon, the company's chief executive.
Commenting on his appointment, Stokes says: "SuperDerivatives is acknowledged as having revolutionized the business of FX options. Traders and brokers in other asset classes have been looking forward to the company's entry into their markets. I am thrilled to be playing a role in this development with SuperDerivatives."
He adds: "The impact SuperDerivatives has had on FX suggests it will bring a new degree of transparency to interest rate option trading, which will significantly aid price discovery in both vanilla and exotic products. This will result in huge benefits to anyone who has exposure to the level of interest rates, whether they are on the buy or sell side," Stokes concludes.
