MasterCard appoints Marcus Mak head, merchant marketing for Apmea

MasterCard today announced the appointment of Marcus Mak as Head of Merchant Marketing for the company's Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) regions, effective immediately.

Based in Singapore, Mr. Mak will be responsible for bringing a more dynamic, value-driven proposition to merchants. He will drive business strategy for key merchants and his core responsibilities will include building regional merchant marketing strategies for card acceptance and usage.

Mr. Mak has held a variety of leadership roles in payments-related companies, managing areas such as co-brand products, cross border, merchant acceptance and merchant relations. His experience spans 18 years across Asia/Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa. In his most recent posting, he was responsible for leading co-brand product management and driving cross border business. He has also had a management role in the traveler cheques business overseeing South East Asia.

Mr. Mak holds an MBA degree from California State University - Hayward and a Bachelor of Science (Marketing and Management) degree from Indiana University.
