Adyen, the global payments company, today announced that Shuttle, its innovative payment solution enabling businesses to accept payments on-the-go from Android or iOS mobile devices at the point-of-sale (mPOS), is now available in 17 European countries following recent launches in Switzerland, Norway and Denmark.
Shuttle became the first fully EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) compliant mPOS device available in Europe last year, delivering payment acceptance via smartphones or tablets through a Bluetooth connection.
Since the launch of Shuttle in December 2012, Adyen has witnessed huge demand from businesses ranging from high street retailers to taxi services and caterers. Shuttle can be used as a standalone solution by businesses needing to accept payments on-the-move, or in combination with iPad-based point-of-sale systems in shops and restaurants. Shuttle is the most cost-effective Chip&PIN mPOS solution available for merchants processing more than one transaction per day.
The recent additions of Switzerland, Norway and Denmark, means that Adyen can now offer its mPOS solution in 17 European countries. Shuttle is also available in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.
"We are delighted to announce that our innovative Shuttle mPOS solution is now available in so many European countries. The reception since its launch last year has been phenomenal and this expansion further demonstrates that a safe, easy-to-use mPOS solution has the ability to benefit companies of all sizes and focus," said Roelant Prins, CCO, Adyen. "Adyen has always had great aspirations for Shuttle, and we look forward to being able to offer the most advanced multichannel payment solution to an even broader range of customers."
Shuttle runs on Adyen's multi-channel payment platform enabling businesses operating online and at the point-of-sale to use Adyen's extensive back-office capabilities for cross-channel payment reporting and management. This unique, multichannel capability makes it easy for merchants to streamline processes, improve administration and offer unlimited marketing and loyalty programme possibilities.
