Cardtronics (CATM) today announced-as part of an expanded ATM branding relationship-Scotiabank is adding 500 Cardtronics cash machines to the Scotiabank Mexico ATM network.

The ATMs, part of Cardtronics' existing portfolio in Mexico, are primarily located in major convenience stores throughout the country. Cardtronics, Inc. is the world's largest retail ATM owner.

The partnership with Cardtronics will expand Scotiabank's ATM network in Mexico to include more than 2,000 machines across the country, accessible to accountholders free of charge. Scotiabank Mexico is part of Scotiabank, one of North America's premier financial institutions and Canada's most international bank.

"Scotiabank's focus in expanding our ATM network is to give our customers quick, easy and convenient access to their cash," said Carlos Lomeli, senior vice president of Retail Banking at Scotiabank Mexico. "We want to be where our customers are and having ATMs in high traffic locations like convenience stores helps ensure that our customers can find us where and when they need us."

Through its ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics, Scotiabank has recently expanded its ATM footprint in North America by more than 1,100 ATMs, including 150 in Puerto Rico, nearly 480 in Canada and now 500 in Mexico.

"In 2010, when Scotiabank signed its first ATM branding agreement with Cardtronics, we spoke of establishing a framework to brand additional ATMs in other international Scotiabank markets," said Rick Updyke, president, North America Business Group, Cardtronics. "Now, an ATM branding relationship which brought together Scotiabank and Cardtronics less than three years ago in Puerto Rico has expanded twice and today encompasses more than 1,100 ATMs spread across three North American countries."
