On April 1, 2013, KVH will be opening KVH Osaka Data Center 2 (ODC2), a high-specification Tier 3+ facility with carrier neutral network access in Osaka City. The initial phase of KVH ODC2 will support up to 500 kVA or approximately 200 racks, with ultimate capacity up to 1MVA of power and approximately 400 racks. KVH ODC2 will have direct fiber connectivity to KVH's four other data centers in Tokyo and Osaka, which will further facilitate customer interconnections. KVH will also offer its IT Managed Services in the new data center, providing customers with a range of shared and private cloud capabilities as well as custom managed services.

Japan continues to experience high demand for data center services, with the data center outsourcing market in Japan growing at a 8.6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and expected to reach 1.4 trillion yen (US$20 billion) by 2015, according to International Research Corporation (IDC), In addition, the data center colocation market in Japan will reach 742 billion yen (US$9.2 billion) by 2015.

KVH ODC2 is KVH's fifth data center in Japan. KVH has an existing data center, KVH ODC1, in Osaka that opened in 2001 and is currently full. This expansion leads to a total computing area of approximately 12,000 m² that KVH now offers nationwide. The added data center space is an extension of KVH's information delivery platform, which comprises of data center services offered in combination with low latency network services and flexible managed IT and cloud services to deliver customized and integrated IT solutions for enterprises.
