Western Union (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payment services, in conjunction with PrivatBank, the largest Ukrainian bank and retail-banking leader, offered clients in Ukraine a new option of sending and receiving Western Union money transfers directly from their iPhone and other idevices.
The easy and convenient way to make transaction is available with PrivatBank's payment application Privat24.
"Expanding of our electronic channels and providing our clients with more convenient ways of sending and receiving money is one of the key areas of Western Union business strategy. The new service of Western Union money transfers integrated into the mobile application for IPhones is one more step in this direction, - says Alexandru Badulescu, Regional Vice President for Western Union in Eastern Europe and CIS. - Due to the partnership with PrivatBank, even more customers are enabled now to make money transfers when it is needed and where it is convenient for them. Now they can choose any electronic channel they want to send their funds - via smartphones, online, in self-service kiosks, or through ATMs".
Earlier the application was available only for smartphones on Android platform. Now it is also launched for IOS mobile operating system, enabling IPhone users in Ukraine to enjoy the convenience of fast and reliable Western Union services directly from their phones. To make a transaction a client needs only to have a PrivatBank card and to set up the Privat24 application onto the mobile phone or device. The application can be downloaded free in iTunes App Store and Google Play for Android.
'It has taken me a bit longer than a minute to receive transfer with Western Union directly to my account via mobile phone. Of course, it is very convenient and safe as I got my money at a bank account, - says Alexandr Vityaz, Deputy Chairman of PrivatBank's Board. - Now if I have to send money to my children or parents I can use the mobile transfer application. This option is available 24 hours a day across the globe."
Currently over 700,000 clients use PrivatBank's mobile payment application Privat24, whereas the bank registers nearly 2,000 new subscribers every day. As of 1 December 2012, 3 mln individuals ls benefit from the Privat24 Innternet-Bank system in Ukraine; round the clock they make 300,000 transactions.
PrivatBank clients also can send and receive Western Union money transfers in 3 394 PrivatBank's branches and 8155 ATMs, receive Western Union money transfers at any of 4 653 PrivatBank's self-service kiosks all over Ukraine, or use the service via Privat24 internet-banking.
