By establishing a local presence in Barcelona, NFS will be perfectly placed to serve the needs of its growing treasury community. The region is recognised as a key treasury centre globally, and is promoted by the Spanish Association of Corporate Financiers and Treasurers (ASSET) as an ideal location for both corporate treasuries and shared service centres. The number of treasury operations located in Barcelona has increased significantly over the last few years, and now the region boasts some of the world's leading corporations including; Citigroup, ICI, Avis and General Motors.

Carles Valero, Manager of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Government of Catalonia, comments: "We are pleased that NFS has decided to establish a local presence in Barcelona. NFS' services and support will be an important resource for large corporations in the area and will strengthen our growing financial community. Catalonia has made a name for itself internationally in activities such as R&D, decision centres, design and engineering, logistics, shared service centres and treasury services. The Investment Promotion Agency provides all the assistance required by companies interested in becoming established in our region."

As a business whose value is derived from its workforce, NFS will exploit the superior quality of local employees who enjoy one of the highest living standards in Europe. Establishing a local presence in Spain and increasing its Spanish-speaking workforce will also assist NFS in serving the Latin American market.

Magnus Lind, CEO, NFS, adds: "We are very excited to have a local presence in Spain. The high level of activity in the region and the support of ASSET pose great opportunities for us. Our people are key to our ability to provide leading edge solutions and service; and we are on the constant lookout for areas where we can reach highly skilled individuals, and offer our employees a great place to live. Barcelona meets both these requirements."
