Trustonic is the first company to successfully release a TEE product with the functional requirements outlined by GlobalPlatform to manage applications on TEE technology.

The TEE is a secure area that resides in the main processor of a mobile device, such as a smartphone. It effectively and securely ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a trusted environment. GlobalPlatform - the organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology - published its TEE framework to drive standardisation of this landscape. This will help to reduce development costs, for example, as application developers will no longer be required to produce separate applications to support multiple proprietary TEE products.

The qualification stamp verifies alignment of Trustonic's product with two GlobalPlatform Specifications. Firstly, the GlobalPlatform TEE Client API Specification v1.0, which defines the communication between applications running in a rich operating environment and the applications residing in the TEE, and is essential for mobile manufacturers. And secondly, the GlobalPlatform TEE Internal API Specification v1.0 which outlines a set of criteria for the development of trusted applications and is key for application developers.
