TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX), a leading business integration and process management software company that enables real-time business, today announced that it is working with Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) to extend TIBCO's real-time enterprise backbone for service-oriented architecture (SOA) to the network and enhance visibility and security through the integration with Cisco Application-Oriented Networking (AON).

A new Cisco technology, AON enables the network to support intelligent decisions based on business policies and application needs by integrating message-level routing and communication, visibility, and security into the fabric of network. TIBCO and Cisco have integrated AON with TIBCO Enterprise Message Service, a standards-based enterprise messaging platform that brings together different IT assets and communications technologies on a common enterprise backbone to manage the real-time flow of information.

Through this integration, Cisco and TIBCO have now provided customers with access to a new source of real-time information via TIBCO's enterprise backbone, and made this information available for use by TIBCO's entire suite of products, including TIBCO BusinessEvents for Complex Event Processing (CEP).

"As we developed the AON solution, it was a natural fit for Cisco to collaborate with TIBCO, a leader in messaging and business integration, to provide improved real-time visibility and responsiveness to rapidly changing business conditions," said Taf Anthias, general manager and vice president of engineering, Application-Oriented Networking, Cisco Systems. "Through our combined efforts customers will be able to deploy next-generation application infrastructures that increase business visibility, improve service level management and make applications network-aware."

Through the combination of Cisco AON and TIBCO products, customers gain greater real-time visibility into the state of the business and greater responsiveness. For example, with Cisco AON customers can now see events such as purchase order requests and financial transactions as they occur on the network. By processing these events using TIBCO BusinessEvents, customers can track overall business processes and adherence to business service level agreements, such as an agreement with a customer to ship high priority orders within 24 hours. Whenever service levels are in danger of not being met, TIBCO BusinessEvents can proactively take action and trigger processes that automatically correct the problem.

"By integrating TIBCO's enterprise backbone for service infrastructure with Cisco AON, we're extending our real-time messaging to the network, and making information and interactions ubiquitous throughout the enterprise,"
said Ram Menon, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing, TIBCO Software Inc. "Through our combined efforts, customers can now use the network as a new source of real-time business information to further automate end-to-end business processes and improve IT infrastructure adaptability, reliability and security."
