Anthemis Group SA is pleased to announce the creation of Anthemis (Americas) Corporation. Based in New York and led by Managing Director Sam Johnson, Anthemis (Americas) will play a key role in supporting the Group's continued growth and ambition to re-invent financial services.

Founded in 2010, Anthemis is a fast-growing, diversified financial services firm with activities, businesses and investments located across the globe. Anthemis brings together a network of talented entrepreneurs, executives and engineers to build disruptive, technology-enabled businesses across the spectrum of financial services.

With founding stakes in companies such as Simple, Betterment, Movenbank, Blueleaf and The Climate Corporation, Anthemis is uniquely positioned as a leading actor in the development of innovative financial services business models that provide a variety of products and services natively adapted to the needs and expectations of 21st century customers.

Anthemis (Americas) Corporation further expands the Group's ability to support and accelerate the growth of our activities in the United States and importantly, gives Anthemis a local operating presence in one of the world's most important financial centers.

Sean Park, founder of Anthemis Group, said, "Building great businesses is all about building teams of great people, which is why we are thrilled to have Sam join us full-time to lead our expansion in the Americas. We've been fortunate to have him working with us on a variety of projects as a Venture Partner from the start and his rare mix of both corporate and entrepreneurial experience are ideally suited to help us achieve our ambitious goals. Many of our clients and portfolio companies are based in the United States, and given the size of the market opportunity, with someone of Sam's proven talents to lead it, opening an office in New York was an obvious next step in our development."

"We have a real opportunity here to play a key role in reinventing financial markets to make them better for everyone," Sam Johnson said. "The work that Anthemis Group is doing is important. I'm flattered to be offered this opportunity to be part of such a stellar team and to help build the Americas business together with our portfolio companies and partners." Sam previously was founder and CEO of TransactTools, a trading technology company that was acquired by NYSE in 2007. Prior to that he was Vice President, Equities Electronic Trading at Goldman Sachs, and co-chair of the FIX Protocol Organization.
