SAP AG (SAP) today announced that BBVA, a leading Spanish financial group, will implement a single global technology platform based on the SAP® ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) solution.

The solutions, which will support payroll operations and personnel administration, are planned to initially cover approximately 75 percent of the 112,000 employees who comprise BBVA's worldwide headcount.

BBVA operates in 33 countries and serves more than 50 million customers. The company selected SAP software as part of its human resources (HR) globalization and transformation initiative, which seeks to modernize personnel administration and payroll management. It will do so by providing a new technology platform that drives efficiency in operations through automating processes and enabling self-service channels for employees. The solutions will initially be rolled out to Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

While selecting the solutions, BBVA performed a comprehensive comparative analysis of various solutions in the market. It took into account both the geographic footprint of the platforms in terms of personnel administration and payroll management as well as the current functional and technical features of the solutions. The decision process involved the HR and technology teams of all five countries included in the initial scope, as well as the corporate areas.

The centralization of the HR management system will offer an integrated overview of headcount, in addition to enabling unique centralized data and records to help ensure the consistency and coherence of information in all subsidiaries. Furthermore, SAP ERP HCM will include local versions to cover the specific characteristics of each country.

"Human capital management software from SAP will help BBVA reach its goals for employees," said Javier Colado, managing director, SAP Iberia. "We look forward to a long relationship as the company continues to grow."
