Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), a global leader in mobile security solutions, is expanding their production plant in Twinsburg, Ohio and plans to add over one hundred jobs in the next few years.
This expansion is the second in three years and will allow the production facility to support the growing needs of the payment, transit and identification markets, which G&D serves in the U.S.
G&D has always been an innovative leader in the payment market, both globally and in the U.S. Through technology innovations, like contactless and EMV, and complex card body features, like foil, colored core and layered construction, G&D is able to help banks differentiate their brands to become top of wallet. The facility expansion furthers G&D's innovation strategy, providing the added capability to manufacture and personalize microprocessor smart cards to support the migration to EMV technology from traditional magnetic stripe cards. The new capabilities allow G&D to also offer the full service portfolio of personalization, including EMV data generation, PIN printing, inline carrier printing and fulfillment, and Online Services.
G&D has been printing and manufacturing plastic cards from this facility since 1987, following their acquisition of Cardtech, Inc. in the mid-nineties. G&D first expanded the facility in 2009, adding the adjacent building and increasing card production capacity. The new expansion adds an additional 28,000 square feet of high security production space. With the increased capabilities, G&D will add more team members and could double the amount of staff in the next couple of years, as the markets evolve through technology innovation.
G&D is focused on securing credentials, whether physical or virtual, and supports all form factors from magnetic stripe cards to dual interface EMV cards to Trusted Service Management (TSM) of a virtual wallet for NFC. These payment methods form a cornerstone of G&D's North American payment strategy.
