IZettle, the world's first app and mini chip-card reader that turns iOS smartphones and tablets into mobile credit card terminals in the Nordics and the U.K, is now also available for Android.

iZettle's Android app let's anyone take credit or debit card payments anytime, anywhere - with or without iZettle's mini chip-card reader. Unlike traditional point of sale terminals, iZettle has no lenghty sign up processes or fixed fees. Instead, iZettle charges a percentage of the transaction amount.

"We're thrilled to successfully finish our Android beta test with Samsung, and announce to Android based small businesses and individuals out there that they now can take secure card payments with iZettle", says iZettle CEO and co-founder Jacob de Geer.

Andreas Norberg, Nordic product manager for mobile phones at Samsung, adds: "iZettle is a solution that makes everyday life easier for consumers and brings a change in the way things are done. This thinking is in line with Samsung's values and it's really exciting that the Android beta test in Sweden was such a success, as this ensures that Samsung-users can benefit from iZettle."

iZettle for Android has the same features as the iZettle iOS version for iPhone, the only difference is that the Android version plugs into the device's audio jack. iZettle for Android is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S II, S II LTE, S III, and the Galaxy Note, and the app can be downloaded free of charge from Samsung Apps. Initially, iZettle for Android will be available in Sweden, both online from iZettle and in Telia (part of TeliaSonera) shops across Sweden. During the next couple of months iZettle will be compatible with additional Android devices.

"Being a Stockholm based tourism business, we want to show tourists the best side of Stockholm. Taking payments on the spot for our Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing buses with iZettle is perfect, not just because it's a really convenient and fast way of handling credit card payments, but also because it impresses the tourists, says Micha Gottfarb, CEO Stockholm Red Buses.

iZettle is EMV (Europay, MasterCard and VISA) approved, and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). No sensitive data is ever stored on the mobile device or iZettle reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.
