The North American Chapter brings together key players in the marketplace to work through issues impacting the mobile financial ecosystem's future and accelerate the development of sustainable MFS in this region. Members from American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, CIBC, MasterCard, TD Bank Group, US Bank and Visa, gather together to deliver sustainable, long-term mobile services to the mass market.

"Banks and payment service providers in North America are yet to clarify their opinions on how to develop mobile payment services," comments Sirpa Nordlund, Executive Director, Mobey Forum. "This means there is a real need for stakeholders to find synergies and foster the development of the ecosystem. The North American Chapter aims to provide an environment that meets this need. By establishing guiding principles for the ecosystem, based on the premise that no single stakeholder's role should undermine consumer confidence or inhibit widespread adoption, we aim to accelerate the evolution of mobile payments to the benefit of consumers and all involved."

Mobey Forum has strong widespread relationships with organisations and associations working in areas related to MFS. Mobey Forum works together with its industry partners by sharing knowledge and information to facilitate the adoption and deployment of mobile payments created on open standards.

Matt Calman, Senior Vice President and Research & Development Executive at Bank of America, and Chairman of the North American Chapter comments: "No other industry association has the depth and range of member knowledge in mobile financial services that is offered by Mobey Forum. With the Americas Chapter, we aim to bring together key stakeholders to discuss issues and challenges in order to advance mass market deployment of mobile payment technology.

"Mobey Forum promotes extended learning between mobile financial services practitioners around the globe, therefore members of the North American Chapter will not only tackle domestic barriers faced on the road to consumer adoption, but they will help to drive the agenda for Mobey Forum's global output," adds Calman.

While Mobey Forum North America is bank-led it welcomes members from any supervised payment institutions, technology companies and mobile network operators. Mobey Forum membership provides an opportunity for discussion, networking and the sharing of knowledge. The chapter is led by Bank of America and already boasts a variety of members, including American Express, Capital One, CIBC, MasterCard, TD Bank Group, US Bank and Visa.
