SunGard and RBS Markets & International Banking, the UK-based investment bank, have collaborated to implement SunGard's Valdi Trader Lite exchange traded derivatives trading workstation.

This platform supports RBS' global expansion of its futures and options business and is part of a long-term relationship with SunGard that gives RBS clients access to major exchanges and listed contracts around the world. SunGard supports access to more than 70 derivatives exchanges worldwide.

RBS' brokers and clients are also using Valdi tools for automated and algorithmic trade execution, FIX connectivity and pre-trade risk management.

Deployed and managed via web-based technology, SunGard's Valdi Trader Lite provides RBS' brokers, traders and their clients with remote access to a full-function trading platform that provides seamless connectivity to RBS' memberships on global exchanges. The ease of deployment helps RBS onboard new clients quickly while simplifying its technical environment.

Jeremy Wright, global head of Futures and Options within RBS' Prime Services and Client Execution unit, said, "SunGard's Valdi provides RBS with tools that help us provide a leading service to our clients, reducing our time-to-market for trading in new instruments and geographies. Collaborating with SunGard helps us leverage its broad footprint and years of experience in the futures industry."

Patrice de Berranger, head of EMEA sales for SunGard's capital markets business, added, "Global brokers need to deploy technology quickly and cost effectively to help them capture growth opportunities. SunGard is helping RBS and its clients provide turnkey trading and connectivity for listed derivatives worldwide via an easy-to-use and easy-to-access solution."
