Ukash, the international eMoney payment method, is now available throughout Denmark via one of the world's most recognisable global brands, 7-Eleven.
7-Eleven has been in Denmark since 1993 and many of the 195 locations are often in convenient locations including high streets, railway stations and airports, many are open 24hrs a day.
Ukash's launch in Denmark means Danish consumers will be able to obtain Ukash in their local currency, Danish krone (DKK). The launch also bolsters Ukash's existing presence in Scandinavia; the brand previously launched in Norway and Sweden in February 2010 and December 2009 respectively.
Ukash empowers people worldwide to use cash electronically, irrespective of status, device or boundary, and is available at over 420,000 retail locations. Globally, Ukash is active in 57 countries across 6 continents.
David Hunter, chief executive of Ukash, said: "Ukash is focused on building international profile and signing up major retailers. Denmark is a key location for us and the fact we're reaching the market via 7-Eleven means the potential to empower people to use their cash online is vast."
"Ukash already has a strong presence across Europe and in other Scandinavian countries. Denmark has a particularly high internet usage rate so we have high hopes that the brand will also be well received with consumers in Denmark."
Mr. Morten Vedel, Product Director of 7-Eleven Denmark, said: "At 7-Eleven, we're very proud to be the first retailer in Denmark to offer Ukash - it's great news for both the company and our customers, who will be able to obtain Ukash at all of our stores. We're confident that a credible, internationally recognised alternative online cash payment method like Ukash will be popular in Denmark and we look forward to beginning a long and successful partnership."
