Allianz Cornhill, based in Guildford, Surrey, first licensed Colossus in March 2000 and has since used the system extensively. Colossus, which is used by more than 50 companies worldwide, is the insurance industry's leading knowledge-based claims evaluation system. The system helps claims handlers fairly and consistently evaluate injuries, treatments, resolution, impairment and general damage settlements, and is based on thousands of rules intended to help adjusters assess a wide variety of claims and medical information. In the UK, Colossus is used to process more than 60 percent of all the claims handled by general insurers.

"Working closely with CSC, Colossus has helped us improve our handling and settlement of personal injury claims," said Harry Rule, Allianz Cornhill's claims manager. "We can monitor our claims costs more accurately and this alone has been a key factor in achieving consistency in claims settlement.

"Allianz Cornhill's decision to stay with Colossus illustrates how much value it has already added to their business and how much they believe it will add in the future," said John Maitz, vice president and head of CSC's General Insurance division for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "In today's world of spiralling insurance claims and costs, no insurer can afford to be complacent about their claims handling system. Allianz Cornhill's confidence in Colossus proves this point."
