The Italian Sviluppo Discount supermarket chain has awarded Wincor Nixdorf an order to take over services for the more than 830 POS systems it currently operates in its 250 stores across Italy.
The contract term is three years. Wincor Nixdorf will also assume responsibility for the complete rollout of POS systems for new Sviluppo Discount stores. Sviluppo Discount will profit from increased POS availability and thus faster service for its customers.
In detail, the contract covers classic hardware maintenance and service for the POS systems, with recovery times of up to four hours. In addition, Wincor Nixdorf will support Sviluppo Discount through help desk services for the supermarket chain's software requests.
On-site service will be provided by technicians from a partner company and controlled by Wincor Nixdorf as general contractor. Sviluppo Discount will thus benefit from hardware and software services from a single vendor, hence decreasing complexity in management.

The next step is the extension of the service contract to cover devices from other manufacturers in the supermarket's stores. Wincor Nixdorf can indeed also offer high-quality services for third-party software.
