SIX Swiss Exchange will offer co-location services for its new equities trading platform X-stream INET together with Equinix, a provider of global data center services.
Connection to the new platform, scheduled for launch in the first half of 2012, will be provided in Equinix's Zurich International Business Exchange (IBX) data center, and will offer market participants significantly enhanced trading capacity and reduced latency.
The exchange co-location offer will ensure that existing and new SIX Swiss Exchange clients can operate their trading systems in close proximity to the exchange matching engine. This eliminates the need for access via public networks, which reduces connectivity costs at the same time as lowering latency.
Christian Katz, CEO SIX Swiss Exchange: "By implementing co-location, we have reached yet another milestone in our continuous pursuit of best in class services. In cooperation with the previously announced X-stream INET platform, we can offer our clients some of the most modern trading technology in the world. In our opinion, a high-performance and multifunctional trading platform has always been our mark of distinction when it comes to attracting new liquidity."
"The availability of the X-stream INET platform inside our Zurich data center will provide an attractive offering for market participants looking to increase their trading capacity while lowering latency," said Marco Dottarelli, Managing Director, Equinix Switzerland, GmbH. "This agreement also underlines our commitment to facilitating the rapid growth of exchanges and other financial services across Platform Equinix."
